OUR COMMITMENT...

TO QUALITY AND CUSTOMER SATISFACTION

Rebuilding of Petrol and Diesel Engines

ABCO ENGINEERING has been rebuilding engines in the Namaqualand area since 1965. It is therefore our responsibility and privilege to serve and support our clients to the best of our ability. Our motto "QUALITY STARTS HERE", forces us to continuously improve our business with innovative ideas, modern machinery and the latest technology in the rebuilding sector. A modern workshop and machine shop with trained specialists in the engine remanufacturing field and machining standards guarantee a superior end product to the quality conscious customer.

During 1990 we were appointed as ADE PRONET Authorised Rebuilders. To obtain this prestige appointment we had to satisfy experts from Atlantis Diesel Engines of our above average knowledge and superior workmanship in the engine rebuilding sector. We have to satisfy their engineers of our continuous commitment to quality every year during a quality audit.

At the beginning of 1994 we were assessed and approved by the Anglo American Corporation to remanufacture their ADE, Caterpillar, Cummins, Deutz and Komatsu engines.

In January 1995 Abco became the first Deutz Diesel Engine Factory Authorised Remanufacturer in the area. This is once again an elite appointment with only about ten (10) engine remanufacturers in South Africa having received this honour. This appointment is a guarantee to the customer of only the best in quality and prices on Deutz engines.

We recondition and guarantee ADE, Caterpillar, Cummins, Deutz, Komatsu, GM, Volvo and all other diesel and petrol engines to the same high standard of original workmanship. We can also satisfy your vehicle engine spares requirements.

All engines are assembled to original equipment manufacturers' specifications whereafter a full load Dynotest is carried out, To assure maximum quality control we also take an oil sample after Dynamometer testing to satisfy ourselves that wear limits are within an acceptable range. The analyses are undertaken by an external independent company. These results are always available to our customers. We recently purchased IMR 3000P Gas analysing equipment to satisfy new mining legislation regarding the measuring and adjusting of exhaust gas emissions.

In January 1998 Abco expanded by opening a dedicated parts sales outlet under the name POWER HOUSE Engine Parts. This is to improve our support to the current workshop and expand our service to our customer, but essentially to give the cash customer an option to buy his parts at competitive prices.

Our nationally accepted price structure, approved by the South African Motor Industries Federation, make us competitive in all labour and re-manufacturing categories.
To improve our standard we are in the process of acquiring an ISO9002 Quality assurance grading from the SABS. We believe you expect only the best and we strive to satisfy that need. Be assured of our support and best intentions at all times.

Recycle Your Engine....

And the Environment

The Environment is Our Responsibility

Engine Rebuilders take their responsibilities very seriously

Recycle your engine?

Why not! You make the effort to recycle paper, aluminum cans and glass bottles. Did you know you can recycle the engine in your car?

Engine recyclers, called rebuilders or remanufacturers, have been recycling engines for as long as there have been engines.

Why would you want to recycle your engine?

If your vehicle is in good shape interior, body, driveline, and so on it is less expensive to rebuild an engine than to purchase a new vehicle.

Increase the resale value of a vehicle you are planning to sell with a rebuilt engine.

Restore a vehicle with high sentimental value with a rebuilt engine.

Why could a rebuilt engine be a better choice than a "brand new" engine?

A brand new engine may not be practical because of the high cost.

Rebuilt engines often carry longer warranty periods than new engines. A "factory" new engine will often carry a 90 day or 4,000 mile warranty, while a similar engine rebuilt by a professional engine rebuilder will usually be warranteed for 12 months or 12,000 miles.

How does an engine rebuilder restore my engine back to service?

Before beginning any work, a professional engine rebuilder will first conduct a thorough inspection of the engine to determine if the engine is recyclable.

The engine may not be suitable for rebuilding for a variety of reasons, including:

 broken or cracked engine block

 excessive cylinder wear

 warped engine block

If none of these conditions exist and the engine is suitable for rebuilding, then the rebuilder will return your engine to "original equipment" specifications using standard and uniform sizing throughout. The process of restoring your engine to this "original equipment" condition involves a series of several procedures, including:

 Straighten, regrind, and/or polish
          the crankshaft

 Straighten and recondition
          connecting rods

Install and fit new pistons and
          piston rings

Bore and hone cylinders and "re-
          sleeve" if necessary

 Straighten and/or resurface
          cylinder head(s)

 Completely recondition cylinder
          heads (valve job)

 Rebalance engine components, if
          necessary

 Install new crankshaft and camshaft
          bearings

 Replace and fit camshaft, lifters,
          timing chain, timing gears

Replace oil pump and/or oil pump
          drive components

 Assemble the engine following
          strict guidelines for bolt torque,
          tightening sequence and parts
          alignment

 Pre-lube and pressure test final
          assembly (if required)

 and more!
